3 gAnd not only this, but
Lit we also boast; or let’s also boast
we also icelebrate in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about jperseverance;
4and kperseverance, lproven character; and proven character, hope; 5and hope mdoes not disappoint, because the love of God has been npoured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

6 For while we were still ohelpless, pat the right time qChrist died for the ungodly. 7For one will hardly die for a righteous person;

12 Therefore, just as through aeone man sin entered into the world, and afdeath through sin, and agso death spread to all mankind, because all sinned-- 13for

15 But
Lit not as the offense, so also is the gracious gift
the gracious gift is not like the offense. For if by the offense of apthe one aqthe many died, much more did the grace of God and the gift by arthe grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many.
16The gift is not like that which came through the one who sinned; for on the one hand asthe judgment arose from one offense,
Lit to condemnation
resulting in condemnation, but on the other hand the gracious gift arose from many offenses,
Lit to an act of righteousness
resulting in justification.
17For if by the offense of the one, death reigned avthrough the one, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness awreign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.

18 So then, as through axone offense
Lit to condemnation
the result was condemnation to all mankind, so also through one azact of righteousness
Lit to justification
the result was bbjustification of life to all mankind.
19For as through the one man’s disobedience bcthe many bdwere made sinners, so also through bethe obedience of the One bfthe many will be made righteous. 20

bhThe Law came in so that the offense would increase; but where sin increased, bigrace abounded all the more,
21so that, as bjsin reigned in death, so also bkgrace would reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
